Skotlandia Hadapi Curacao dalam Laga Uji Coba Piala Dunia 2026

Tim nasional Skotlandia menjamu Curacao dalam pertandingan uji coba di Stadion Hampden Park pada Sabtu, 30 Mei 2026, sebagai persiapan terakhir sebelum bertolak menuju Amerika Serikat untuk mengomparasi kekuatan menjelang laga pembuka Piala Dunia melawan Haiti.

Pertandingan ini menjadi momen krusial bagi manajer Steve Clarke untuk menguji kedalaman skuadnya setelah menelan dua kekalahan beruntun pada jeda internasional bulan Maret lalu, sekaligus menjadi pertemuan pertama sepanjang sejarah bagi kedua negara.

Manajer Skotlandia, Steve Clarke, menilai laga ini sangat penting untuk mengukur kekuatan lawan dari wilayah CONCACAF karena karakteristik bermain Curacao kembar dengan calon lawan mereka di fase grup nanti.

"Curacao and Haiti are quite often playing against each other, so that will give us that level," kata Steve Clarke, kepala pelatih Skotlandia kepada BBC Scotland.

"It will give us an idea of the level in that part of the world," lanjut Steve Clarke.

Persiapan Skotlandia sempat terganggu karena para pemain domestik bergabung dalam waktu yang berbeda-beda seiring berakhirnya kompetisi, namun Clarke mengonfirmasi bahwa seluruh pilar di dalam skuadnya berada dalam kondisi bugar.

"What we hope for is a good competitive game against Curacao and, obviously, no injuries is first and foremost in everybody's mind," ujar Steve Clarke.

"We want to win the game and give the crowd a good feeling as we leave and give ourselves a good feeling as we leave the country for what's going to be a big challenge," tambah Steve Clarke.

Arsitek taktik berusia 62 tahun itu juga memberikan penghormatan kepada pelatih Curacao, Dick Advocaat, yang memiliki rekam jejak mentereng di sepak bola Skotlandia saat menangani Rangers.

"I was looking at the list of clubs he's been at, the jobs that he's had is absolutely incredible – fantastic career," ucap Steve Clarke.

"What he did at Rangers is well remembered here. He said he had a great time over here," tutur Steve Clarke.

Pertemuan awal antara kedua pelatih terjadi saat proses pengundian grup Piala Dunia, di mana delegasi Curacao secara terbuka menyatakan keinginan mereka untuk menggelar laga persahabatan di Glasgow.

"The first time I met Dick was actually at the World Cup draw and him and his delegation were pretty clear that they wanted a friendly against Scotland before the World Cup, so it's fantastic that we can bring them here to Glasgow," kata Steve Clarke.

"If it's a great story for us that we've qualified, it's like a fairytale for Curacao to be going to a World Cup – country that size – and a credit to Dick, his staff and the players that have managed to do that," puji Steve Clarke.

Clarke mengindikasikan bakal melakukan rotasi besar-besaran dalam pertandingan ini demi memberikan menit bermain bagi pilar yang telah beristirahat sejak awal Mei.

"Apparently he's got quite a good record [at Hampden], so hopefully we can put a spanner in the works on that one," cetus Steve Clarke.

"No injury concerns at the moment, so hopefully everyone fit and available," tegas Steve Clarke.

Aturan pertandingan persahabatan ini memungkinkan kedua tim melakukan hingga 11 pergantian pemain, situasi yang akan dimanfaatkan penuh oleh Clarke untuk menghadapi faktor cuaca ekstrem di Amerika Serikat.

"The starting XI against Haiti will be slightly different to the starting XI tomorrow. I would imagine we're allowed to make 11 substitutions and pretty much most of them will be used. In my mind, I'm thinking in my mind four or five changes at half-time," papar Steve Clarke.

"We've also got players that haven't played since the start of May. They need some minutes on the pitch," sambung Steve Clarke.

Kondisi fisik dan kesiapan seluruh anggota tim menjadi fokus utama mengingat ketatnya jadwal turnamen yang menuntut kontribusi kolektif.

"It's going to be a squad World Cup, not just the team. Every match there'll be 16 players going on the pitch at some stage. Between games, there'll be rotations in certain positions," terang Steve Clarke.

"The modern game is pretty much a squad game anyway, but it's going to be even more out there because of the extreme conditions," pungkas Steve Clarke.

Gelandang Skotlandia, Ryan Christie, menyuarakan optimisme serupa mengenai kualitas tim lawan yang berhasil menembus putaran final Piala Dunia.

"Every single team that's going to the World Cup is there on merit, so they must be a good side. I'm sure it'll be a tough test tomorrow for us," ujar Ryan Christie, gelandang Skotlandia.

"It's a good kind of warm-up. It's exactly what we're needing. It'll be nice to play in front of the fans," tambah Ryan Christie.

Christie berharap pertandingan ini dapat diselesaikan dengan kemenangan tanpa ada pemain yang menderita cedera serius.

"Hopefully we all stay injury-free, come out the other side of it and put a good performance together and get a win even better going into the tournament," kata Ryan Christie.

Di kubu lawan, pelatih veteran Dick Advocaat merasa emosional bisa kembali ke Glasgow, tempat di mana ia merajut memori indah bersama Rangers.

"It's special. I had already some memories with the national team from Holland to play against Scotland, but I didn't expect to play against Scotland with Curacao," ungkap Dick Advocaat, kepala pelatih Curacao.

"I was quite successful here in this stadium," kenang Dick Advocaat.

Curacao menorehkan sejarah sebagai negara terkecil berdasarkan populasi dan wilayah yang mampu lolos ke putaran final Piala Dunia setelah menjuarai grup babak kualifikasi di atas Jamaika.

Skuad berjuluk The Blue Wave ini diperkuat sejumlah pemain yang berkompetisi di Eropa seperti duo Bacuna bersaudara, Tahith Chong di Sheffield United, hingga mantan penyerang Brighton, Jurgen Locadia.
