Ghana Terancam Kehilangan Thomas Partey pada Babak 32 Besar

Tim nasional Ghana menghadapi kendala perjalanan menjelang babak gugur Piala Dunia 2026 karena gelandang Thomas Partey terancam dilarang memasuki wilayah Kanada jika tim finis sebagai runner-up Grup L setelah laga pamungkas melawan Kroasia di Philadelphia pada Sabtu, 27 Juni 2026. Kepastian posisi kedua grup akan memaksa tim asuhan Carlos Queiroz bertanding di Toronto, Kanada, tempat Partey sebelumnya ditolak masuk oleh otoritas setempat akibat kasus hukum yang menjeratnya di Uni Emirat Arab dan Inggris. Pemain berusia 33 tahun tersebut dijadwalkan menjalani persidangan di Inggris pada Juni mendatang atas dugaan pemerkosaan dan kekerasan seksual dari empat wanita, meskipun ia telah menyatakan tidak bersalah. Pelatih kepala Ghana, Carlos Queiroz, menegaskan bahwa fokus utama timnya saat ini hanyalah menghadapi Kroasia tanpa memikirkan potensi absennya sang gelandang di laga berikutnya.

"A game of football is so difficult that we cannot play two or three at the same time, we just have to focus on Croatia, get a result, play good football, fight more, be better," kata Carlos Queiroz, Pelatih Kepala Ghana.

Queiroz menyatakan bahwa keputusan mengenai langkah tim baru akan diambil setelah hasil akhir babak grup terlihat. "When the results come at the end of the game, we can then make our decisions depending on whether we're first, second or third," tutur Carlos Queiroz, Pelatih Kepala Ghana.

Mantan pelatih Real Madrid tersebut juga menambahkan bahwa semua pelatih pasti akan menerima posisi lolos mana pun sebelum fase grup dimulai. "Before the group stages, all coaches would take any of these positions if you could guarantee it for them, but the important thing is to play one game at a time, and so we're not focusing on any other games that are outside the pitch," ucap Carlos Queiroz, Pelatih Kepala Ghana.

Meskipun harus menghormati keputusan imigrasi Kanada, Queiroz mengaku tidak sependapat dengan pencekalan terhadap pemainnya tersebut. "We're just focusing on playing one game at a time, and the question [about Partey's availability] should be addressed to the authorities of Canada," tambah Carlos Queiroz, Pelatih Kepala Ghana. Ia meminta pihak media untuk mempertanyakan alasan kebijakan penolakan visa tersebut langsung kepada pihak berwenang Kanada.

"I don't agree with it, but only the press have the power to ask the right questions of the people [who make the decisions], to ask: 'Why in the World Cup, has one of our players been stopped from travelling to Canada?'" ujar Carlos Queiroz, Pelatih Kepala Ghana.

Pihak internal tim nasional Ghana sendiri mengaku tidak mengetahui alasan mendetail di balik penolakan dokumen tersebut. "We don't know, ask them, because we don't know the reason," keluh Carlos Queiroz, Pelatih Kepala Ghana. Ghana menargetkan kemenangan atas Kroasia demi mengamankan posisi juara grup agar tetap bertanding di Amerika Serikat, tepatnya di Atlanta.

"We have a game where we must play our best again," pungkas Carlos Queiroz, Pelatih Kepala Ghana.

Queiroz memastikan skuad Black Stars akan berjuang meraih hasil maksimal tanpa memedulikan spekulasi di luar lapangan. "We'll fight as much as possible to get the best result, which would be to be number one," tegas Carlos Queiroz, Pelatih Kepala Ghana.

Saling menghormati antar tim menjadi landasan utama Ghana dalam menghadapi Kroasia pada pertandingan penentu tersebut. "Whether we're two or three though, it doesn't matter. We'll respect Croatia, as they respect us, and both teams will look to achieve their best," jelas Carlos Queiroz, Pelatih Kepala Ghana.

Ia menutup pernyataan dengan menegaskan komitmen tim pada hal-hal yang hanya terjadi di dalam lapangan sepak bola. "Whatever happens outside of that is not part of our business," kata Carlos Queiroz, Pelatih Kepala Ghana. Sebelumnya, dalam konferensi pers menjelang laga melawan Inggris di Stadion Gillette, Queiroz juga sempat menolak membahas detail kasus hukum yang menimpa pemainnya tersebut secara spesifik.

"All of my life, I don't talk about one specific player. I only talk about the team," cetus Carlos Queiroz, Pelatih Kepala Ghana.

Thomas Partey yang sempat bermain dalam laga tanpa gol melawan Inggris menyatakan kesiapannya untuk fokus pada pertandingan. "Things happen outside football that you cannot control," ungkap Thomas Partey, Gelandang Ghana. Mantan pemain Arsenal itu menegaskan kondisi fisiknya sangat siap untuk diturunkan oleh tim pelatih.

"So for me now, i feel OK and I'm ready to play," tutur Thomas Partey, Gelandang Ghana.

Di sisi lain, pengacara sang pemain, Jenny Wiltshire, melansir dari ESPN, mengeluarkan pernyataan resmi terkait status hukum kliennya. "Thomas Partey continues to deny all charges against him. He has cooperated with the police throughout," tegas Jenny Wiltshire, Pengacara Thomas Partey.

Ghana saat ini telah mengantongi empat poin dari dua pertandingan pertama mereka di Grup L Piala Dunia 2026.
