Waterford FC Jamu St Patricks Athletic di Regional Sports Centre

Waterford FC bersiap menjamu St Patrick's Athletic dalam laga lanjutan League of Ireland Premier Division di Regional Sports Centre pada Jumat, 10 Juli 2026 malam waktu setempat.

Pertandingan ini menjadi bagian dari jadwal SSE Airtricity Premier Division yang dikurangi pada pekan ini karena empat tim lain, yaitu Shamrock Rovers, Bohemians, Shelbourne, dan Derry City, mendapatkan jatah libur guna mempersiapkan performa di kompetisi Eropa.

Bagi tim tamu, St Patrick's Athletic mengincar kemenangan karena mereka memiliki dua tabungan pertandingan untuk memangkas selisih sembilan poin dari pemuncak klasemen, Shamrock Rovers, setelah pada laga sebelumnya berhasil mengalahkan Galway United.

Sementara itu, tuan rumah Waterford FC sedang berada dalam tren positif di bawah asuhan manajer baru Graham Coughlan, dengan mencatatkan empat kemenangan dari tujuh laga terakhir termasuk kemenangan 4-2 atas Derry City di Brandywell.

Graham Coughlan menyatakan bahwa anak asuhnya kini berada dalam kondisi yang baik dan telah memperlihatkan banyak perkembangan di dalam skuad sejak kedatangannya.

Coughlan menambahkan bahwa performa serta sikap para pemain dalam beberapa minggu terakhir sangat memuaskan, meski ia menyadari tantangan besar dari St Patrick's Athletic yang mengincar gelar juara musim ini.

"But in general the last couple of weeks have been really pleasing in terms of performance levels and attitude from the players. St Pat's are one of the best teams in the country with a good manager and top players. They’re hungry this season, looking to push and challenge for the title. Dalam wawancara terpisah yang dilansir dari wlrfm.com, Coughlan menegaskan bahwa sejak awal ia tidak pernah menganggap pasukannya sebagai tim papan bawah.

“I didn’t think they were a bottom-of-the-table team,” kata Graham Coughlan, Manajer Waterford FC kepada wlrfm.com.

Menurutnya, pengembalian rasa percaya diri serta penyederhanaan pendekatan taktik menjadi kunci utama dari kebangkitan performa anak asuhnya di lapangan.

Coughlan menginstruksikan para pemain untuk tidak melihat terlalu jauh ke depan dan hanya fokus sepenuhnya pada pertandingan krusial menghadapi St Patrick's Athletic.

Penyerang Waterford FC, Tommy Lonergan, yang memimpin daftar pencetak gol terbanyak, mendukung penuh pernyataan sang manajer mengenai kebangkitan mentalitas tim.

“I feel like every player knows their role now. The energy around the club has been brilliant, and we’re really enjoying our football,” kata Tommy Lonergan, Penyerang Waterford FC kepada wlrfm.com.

Lonergan juga menepis spekulasi mengenai kepindahannya pada bursa transfer ini dan menyatakan komitmennya untuk melanjutkan performa apik bersama klub.

Pada pertandingan lain, laga bertajuk dervi Louth ketiga musim ini mempertemukan Dundalk dan Drogheda United di bawah kepemilikan baru Dundalk dan pelatih Ciaran Kilduff.

Ciaran Kilduff menegaskan pentingnya laga derbi ini untuk mengamankan posisi empat besar klasemen bagi timnya.

"I think we all know how big this game is. We know what's at stake; we need the points, so we’ll have to make sure we do everything right. The group so far has done the club and the town proud, and we hope to continue that." kata Ciaran Kilduff, Pelatih Dundalk kepada rte.ie.

Kilduff berharap dukungan penuh suporter di kandang bisa menjadi keuntungan kompetitif bagi anak asuhnya saat menghadapi Drogheda United.

"There are a lot of positives around the place at the minute, and we just have to keep focusing on them. We need to take every advantage we can get. Having all our supporters in place gives us a bit of a competitive advantage at home.

But it matters nothing on the pitch. We know what’s at stake and we’ll have to make sure we do everything right. We’ll have everyone ready this week, we’ll get a good week of training in, and hopefully it leads to a big night for the club." ujar Ciaran Kilduff, Pelatih Dundalk kepada rte.ie.

Dundalk dipastikan tampil tanpa Danny Mullen yang cedera, sementara Drogheda United asuhan Kevin Doherty yang belum menang dalam delapan laga juga kehilangan Owen Lambe, Warren Davis, Kieran Cruise, dan Andrew Quinn.

Rangkaian pertandingan akhir pekan ini akan ditutup oleh derbi Connacht pada Sabtu malam yang mempertemukan Galway United dan Sligo Rovers di Pearse Stadium.
