John Godfrey Mundur dari Jabatan Kepala Komisioning SBS

Kepala Komisioning SBS John Godfrey memutuskan untuk mengundurkan diri dari jabatannya pada bulan depan setelah bekerja selama 18 tahun di lembaga penyiaran Australia tersebut.

Dilansir dari tvtonight.com.au pada Selasa, 16 Juni 2026, Godfrey telah memegang berbagai peran senior di SBS, termasuk menjadi Kepala Komisioning sejak tahun 2022. Ia berperan penting dalam komisioning serial tanpa naskah seperti Alone Australia dan Mastermind Australia.

Selain itu, Godfrey juga dikenal atas dedikasinya dalam membina praktisi layar kaca Australia generasi berikutnya dan mendukung suara-suara yang kurang terwakili melalui penerapan Pedoman Inklusi Komisioning SBS.

“After 18 incredible years at SBS, now is the right time for me to step away. I have been fortunate to work alongside so many passionate colleagues, talented creators and production partners who share a belief in backing bold ideas, pushing boundaries and using the power of storytelling to open minds and hearts. I’m proud of the programs I have helped bring to screen, the voices they have elevated, the issues they have brought into focus and the conversations they have sparked in homes across Australia.” kata John Godfrey, Kepala Komisioning SBS.

Godfrey menyampaikan rasa terima kasihnya kepada semua pihak yang telah mempercayai SBS untuk menceritakan kisah mereka selama ini.

“I depart with gratitude for the people and experiences that have defined my time at SBS. I’m especially thankful to those who have trusted us to tell their stories, and to the many collaborators willing to take risks to create impact. It has been a privilege to play a small part in sharing those stories with Australians.” ujar John Godfrey, Kepala Komisioning SBS.

Keputusan mundur ini mendapat respons langsung dari jajaran petinggi SBS yang mengapresiasi kontribusi besar Godfrey terhadap perkembangan konten jaringan tersebut.

“John’s legacy extends far beyond the groundbreaking series like Go Back to Where You Came From that he commissioned for this network. Palfreyman menambahkan bahwa melalui produksi-produksi penting lainnya, Godfrey berhasil mendorong tayangan yang memperluas perspektif masyarakat terhadap sejarah nasional dan isu sosial kontemporer.

Fink menegaskan bahwa semangat Godfrey dalam memastikan keberagaman Australia tercermin dalam strategi inklusi yang kini menjadi keunggulan SBS di sektor penyiaran.

Godfrey dijadwalkan resmi meninggalkan SBS pada pertengahan Juli 2026, sementara nama penggantinya belum diumumkan oleh pihak manajemen.
