University of St Francis Jual Gedung Mode Building Rp37 Miliar

Rektor University of St. Francis, Ryan Hendrickson, menjual gedung kantor milik universitas bernama The Mode Building di Joliet, Illinois, seharga 2,3 juta dolar AS atau sekitar Rp37,2 miliar. Langkah penjualan properti komersial ini diambil demi mengatasi krisis keuangan yang dihadapi pihak kampus.

Bangunan bata tiga lantai yang mencakup luas 18.000 kaki persegi tersebut berlokasi di 16-18 West Van Buren Street. Letak properti berada tepat di sebelah Joliet City Square dan Dome of Unity, serta berhadapan langsung dengan Rialto Square Theater.

Pihak universitas menunjuk agen real estat Nicholas Weiss dari Suburban Real Estate Services asal Naperville untuk mengelola daftar penjualan di situs LoopNet.

"Rare opportunity in the heart of Joliet’s downtown business district, across from Rialto Square Theater. This high-profile location offers built-in foot traffic from year-round performances and events," ujar pihak universitas dalam keterangan resmi di LoopNet.

Pemerintah Kota Joliet menyatakan keterbukaannya untuk memberikan paket insentif bagi pembeli, mengingat gedung tersebut berada di kawasan pengembangan River Edge Redevelopment Zone.

"Directly across from the building, Joliet City Square enhances the area with a plaza-style park and performance space, driving additional pedestrian activity. An exceptional opportunity for users seeking premier downtown exposure, with major changes coming through the Equitable Transit-Oriented Development Plan and Joliet Comprehensive Plan, positioning this location at the center of continued residential, retail, and office growth and revitalization," lanjut pihak universitas.

Langkah restrukturisasi ini menyusul kebijakan penghematan yang diterapkan sejak masa awal kepemimpinan Hendrickson. Pada Oktober sebelumnya, universitas telah memberhentikan 18 karyawan dan tidak memperpanjang kontrak sejumlah staf pengajar.

Proses reorganisasi akademik dan efisiensi tenaga kerja hingga kini masih terus berjalan seiring upaya stabilisasi finansial lembaga.
